The Hollow Rain

the hissing is all around

but fading fast

a settled pace had held me in place

antsier now as autumn looks to find its stride

an afternoon’s deluge

has left gutters bloated and coughing

the  bouquet of summer rain

brings memories and a smile

steam pushes from the asphalt

as a rainbow confronts the clouds

imperfect droplets linger

upon nature’s pedestals

while there is much that is heavy

in this moment there is no weight to carry
